Steel City Church was started in 2006 with the mission to be an Acts 29 Church. The book of Acts, written in the 1st Century AD, contains 28 chapters that describe the birth of the early church and the gutsy, real life experiences of the first followers of Christ. Forged together at that time by a shared experience - a life-changing encounter with the recently crucified, resurrected and ascended Jesus - these radical followers now approached life as a closely bonded community. These were real people, living real life, connected to a real God.

Steel City began in a living room, then made national headlines when it began meeting publicly at the Altar Bar night club in the Strip District section of Pittsburgh. Since their inception, Steel City has assisted in launching 3 dynamic ministries in the Pittsburgh area: Crossroads Community Church of Jefferson Hills, CARE Ownership: Real Estate according to the New Testament, and its newest campus, Crossroads Cafe East Liberty, launched in conjunction with Crossroads United Methodist Church.
